How does order concatenation work?

Given two orders Order A and Order B, B concatenates (appends) to A means that B starts the day after the expiration of A.

When does this happen? 

The products from which the orders are generated need to fulfill the following two conditions:

1. must be of the same type and
2. must have at least one title in common
