How to configure and activate AMP

What are they, what to check and how to activate them.

The Accelerated Mobile Pages Project (AMP) is an open-source initiative to improve the performance of web contents and ads through a publishing technology known as AMP.
It is a project launched by Google, specifically targeted at news sites and blogs to facilitate the loading speed of mobile pages.

Why use AMP?
In addition to the explicit advantages in terms of speed of loading, which also correspond to a better ranking in terms of research, it seems that Google has an extra eye on this type of pages by giving them more weight and better SEO ranking.

On each platform (and therefore on each customer) there is a default AMP article layout.
The preview of the default article is visible here (look at it by inspecting item and simulate mobile)

Below the steps for AMP activation:

1. Configure and check Banners

First of all you need to set the banners correctly because they are different from those in the expanded articles of the mobile version. The banner insertion mode is always the same (learn more here) and the banner formats to use are amp_rectangle_1 and amp_rectangle_2.

amp_rectangle_1 is located at the beginning of the page just below the topbar with menu and logo.
amp_rectangle_2 is located at the beginning of the article below its head (composed by pretitle, title, image, subtitle, summary)

For what concern the banner codes to be included, it is essential that they comply with the requirements imposed by Google. To properly set them up, see the help guide provided by Google here and contact your adv dealers.
